Yes, it turned out that marc4j can read the output of record.getContent() and then can produce xml out of it. Nice. Thanks to both projects :)

the same what is called "tape format" in marc4j ?

I managed to find only one example about yaz4j.

There is:

set = con.search(new PrefixQuery(...));
Record rec = set.getRecord(0);
System.out.print(rec.render());

Can one get the content of the record in some other form?
I need it eventually in xml. I don't want to convert the result of rec.render to xml myself...
