Setting this timeout low will kick out very slow targets. The default timeout is 15 seconds. Is it possible to do the same in ZOOM i.e is it possible to set the timeout or to break out clean of a while (ZOOM_event(...)) ; loop with e.g. a forced timeout error?

In ZOOM C you can set timeout on a connection (option timeout). Setting
it has same effect as in PHP/YAZ. Note that newer versions of PHP/YAZ
uses ZOOM C.
